I had a pretty great day celebrating my five-year cancer free anniversary!! My first gift came this morning when I ran into my pink sister Chrystal who lives in my neighborhood. We met not long after I had finished treatment when I was going for a walk and she was coming toward me on the sidewalk. I noticed she didn’t have any hair, and the rest is history! We’ve kept in touch over the years and she even sent me a text on Mother’s Day, but I hadn’t seen her in at least six months! How appropriate that God caused our paths to cross again today!!

I have also been working on a special soap just for fun this week. It took two days to make it, and I was able to cut it this morning! There’s a YouTube video if you’re interested.

Finally, we made last minute dinner plans with our friends Kevin & Mary Bush and Kylie’s friend Emma. Kylie & Emma just got back from Manhattan where they toured several apartments and thankfully found one they are happy with. Kylie will be starting her masters in statistics and Emma has one more year to finish her masters in architecture at K-State. As friends since 8th grade, they are excited to room together for the first time! (Notice the photobomber. Ha ha!)

I am so blessed to celebrate this milestone and look back on all the Lord has brought me through! They say five years is a big deal. I can honestly say I have not lived in fear of the cancer returning. From the moment I got the call that I was cancer free five years ago, I just felt in my spirit that I was finished. Just last year I found my notes from meeting with my oncologist before treatment when I had a visible lump. He had given me just a 20% chance that the chemo would completely eradicate the cancer. I’m sure the chemo did its best work, but this was confirmation to me that it was only by God’s grace that there was nothing remaining after surgery!
