Today definitely started better than yesterday! I felt a bit more focused, a bit more energy – enough to get some exercise even! Fridays are phone call days with my mom and my daughter Tara, so that automatically makes them good days. I finished up two coloring pages while we were chatting. The first one with my mom – I had no idea the significance of it until this afternoon when I received news that my soapmaking friend Holly had lost her battle with cancer and went to be with Jesus! She was just diagnosed in October with a rare form of sarcoma, and when she found out we were battling together we messaged several times to compare notes. The soapmaking community is in mourning over her loss, as she was a bright light to everyone around her! You should see the huge online auction going on right now to help raise funds for her family!
I chose the second page because I had just read this chapter in my Bible reading plan this morning, and I love the two previous verses for context: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-29) Definitely what I need right now!
If you’re wondering about the chips – I happened to mention to Tara while we were talking that sea salt & vinegar chips taste good to me when my taste buds are off from the chemo. She happened to know a friend who wanted to help provide a goodie bag, so next thing I knew I had this amazing gift bag on the porch loaded up with chips, and also these tasty chocolate treats and a balloon! (Thank you, Melinda!!)
AND, I received another fun package in the mail from my aunt and uncle who own a Hallmark store, so they have all the cool gifts!
So yes, today has been a mixed bag. Sad news, still feeling a bit crummy, but coming around – and people who love me and taking care of me and checking in on me!
